3 Types of Braces for a Symmetrical Smile

Everyone wants a smile they’re proud of, but not everyone is born with a set of perfectly straight teeth. Luckily, there are different orthodontic options for people who desire a straight, symmetrical smile.

Braces align your teeth, correcting your bite and ultimately improving your dental health. Not only do braces straighten your teeth, but they also correct gaps between teeth and facial asymmetries, giving you a five-star smile.

Different Types of Braces

There are 3 different types of braces, each with their own unique set of benefits: metal braces (traditional), Fastbraces, and Invisalign clear aligners.

Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are a tried and true way to straighten your teeth and align your bite. Metal braces are comprised of metal brackets and wires, and the brackets are affixed to the front of your teeth. The wire is threaded through the brackets, and over time, your dentist will adjust the braces to reposition your teeth. Metal braces can correct crossbites, overbites, underbites, and other alignment or crowding issues. Though metal braces are ideal for some patients, they do hinder your smile line, and the metal can irritate your mouth.

Fastbraces look similar to traditional braces in that they consist of a set or brackets fastened to the outside of your teeth. However, the brackets are special because two wires run through them: one over the top of the teeth and one over the bottom. Through the use of innovative orthodontic technology, your dentist accelerates the straightening process by stimulating the bone. This makes it easier to move the teeth into the desired position.

Invisalign Clear Aligners

Invisalign is one of the most advanced and trusted brands of clear aligners on the market today. Invisalign is a discreet orthodontic treatment that uses customized plastic aligners to straighten your teeth. Over time, you will wear different sets of trays, and each set gradually positions your teeth until you have achieved your desired results.
