A Caring and Thorough Team

We do not believe in ‘factory-style’ dental care where patients are shuttled in and out and only see the dentist or hygienist for a few minutes during an appointment. Each appointment with us is time reserved specifically for you.

Applying the Latest Technologies

Our team is highly trained in the latest dental approaches and technologies, which allows us to provide every patient with truly personalized attention.

Technology

If you haven’t visited a dental office lately, you may be surprised to see how updated technology can streamline your visits and make your treatments faster and more comfortable than ever before. The type of technology we choose for our office is based on one consideration – the ways in which it will benefit you, the patient. With state-of-the-art equipment, we can work most efficiently, increasing your comfort and minimizing the amount of time you need to spend in the dental chair.

CEREC Same-Day Crowns

CEREC same-day crowns are created using state-of-the-art technology right here in our Fairfax dental office. First, we prepare your tooth for the new crown, then take a picture of it using a special camera.

The image is then input into a computer program, which allows us to view a model of your tooth. The information we gather during this step is used to create a model of your tooth. Your new CEREC crown will be created using a block of porcelain and the model of your tooth. Finally, the crown is adjusted for fit, polished, and secured in your mouth.

Digital Radiography (X-Rays)

In some respects, the process for taking digital x-rays is not all that different from film x-rays. Instead of using a film to take pictures of your teeth, however, we use digital sensors. Digital x-rays provide a highly detailed 3-D view of the interior of your teeth, as well as other structures of your mouth. These image are easily manipulated and can be enlarged and enhanced as needed. This helps our dentist see even the tiniest changes that may not be detectable during a visual exam.

Caries ID Laser Cavity Detector

Small cavities can be hard to see in x-rays, and a traditional dental explorer can miss a cavity in a deep groove or beneath the surface of the enamel. To provide you with the highest level of quality care, we use a small handheld device referred to as a Caries ID laser cavity detector to find decay with accuracy and ease.

The cavity detector uses light technology to search out the smallest cavities. The very thin tip allows it to get into the tightest places for maximum coverage. When it finds decay it emits a signal. This technology is good for children who may not be able to tolerate dental x-rays and expectant moms who want to limit their exposure to radiation.

Ultrasonic Scalers

Cleaning to remove hard deposits that accumulate on your teeth is commonly referred to as scaling. This procedure can be done manually or using an ultrasonic scaler. Research has shown that power scaling is just as effective as manual instruments, and in some cases provides superior results. The action of an ultrasonic scaler is mechanical, as a high vibrational energy destroys and eliminates tartar.

Ultrasonic scalers are easier on tooth structure and therefore more comfortable for the patient. They require less time than manual instruments to perform scaling, and the specially designed tips penetrate deeper into periodontal pockets.
